Driven the MIOS-tour.

In connection with.....
On sathurday-evening I get a phonecall from George. If we want to drive the Mios-tour, starting in Anna Palowna. Rob has announced that he's willing to drive with us as well. Actually we would like to, but it is a bit weatherdependent. Drive all the way passed the "Afsluitdijk" in order to get a wet suit and driving all the way back as well, is not exactly my definition of a pleasant tour. I agree with George that we will give him a call on sundaymorning at 8 sharp, after having a look at the weatherforcast.

Sundaymorning.
At 7 the alarm goes off and my husband and I go downstairs. I take a quick shower and get dressed, while Roel is checking the internet. The weather looks promising. Quite chilly, but little chance for rain. Before 8 the bikes are outside waiting for us and we make the call to George, to announce that we get mounted. A short stop at the cash-machine and then we can leave the village. At Quatrebras I see that it is only 2 degrees. Then off to Leeuwarden, where we fuel up and along the bypass we leave the city. Near the exit of Marssum, we stop and wait. Soon we are with 4 bikes and 5 persons. Then we leave for the Afsluitdijk, George is leading.

MC Mios.
The few times, that I've driven the Mios-tour, it was always a joy to drive by the fields with tulips, hyacinths and crocusses. Because of the cold temperature this spring, most fields are still covered in fleece-blankets. Right after the start of the tour we see a field with daffodils and that is about all we get to see. Exept at the end of the tour, there is a small field with 3 colours of crocusses, white, lilac and purple. After about 30 km of the tour, we arrive in a village, with a square near a church. Here is an obligatory stop and everybody gets a cookie offered, with the compliments of the MC Mios. An annual tradition. I make a few pictures when a group of trikes is leaving with a lot of noise from horns with different melodies. We have a chat with some other bikers and then it is time to move on.

Breaks.
During this day, we take a few extra breaks. Just for a cup of hot coffee in our bodies, because the temperature is not getting any higher. At about 15.30 we are back at the clubhouse and clock off. Another cup of coffee, a final sanitary stop and then we go home. With a speed of 120 km/h we cross the Afsluitdijk. Rob wants to take it easy and tells us to move on. Near Harlingen George takes the exit, he needs to fuel up. We move on to Leeuwarden, to the sevice-station of a biker-friend. Moments later George and Rob and his wife arrive there as well. We have another coffee and a chat. On arrival home I have a look at my counter. Today another 390 km added, a nice start of the bike-season.
