Another forumday.

Binkingdays on the TT-circuit.
Occasion to go.
By the end of last year, some forummembers were discussing, who was the fastest. Actually they should ride against each other on the track. Then there was suggested to download a subscription from the internet, fill in the form and send it to “Fireblade 1996”, so that all the subscriptions would arrive together. The more chance that they would participate in the same session. And so a new topic was opened with the title: "The contest of the Tupperware-titans, April 30, 2006". One of the members mentioned the fact, that it would be nice to turn it into a forum-member-meeting. So the others could support them.

From far and near.
The bikerforum is visited bij bikers from the Netherlands and Belgium. That is how the “Schaduwman” from St. Willebrord had the problem, that it would be a very long distance. He would have to leave the house very early in the morning. There was however another solution. He could crash the night before at our house. On sathurdayafternoon I could expect him. But first he wanted to make a short tour with "Jelle". In my mailbox I found a message from "Jelle", if it was ok, if he came round for a cup-a-coffee. Well if he wanted he could dig in at dinnertime. I had planned to make a large pan of hotchpotch. The gentlemen arrived around 4 PM. At dinnertime, we all sat around the kitchentable. After dinner, the story-telling began and there was a lot of laughter with some red wine involved. Around eleven Roel suggested to put Jelle his bike in the shed as well, so he could crash here too.

On our way to Assen.
On sundaymorning we had to be present at the "Flippo-bridge" in Oosterwolde by 10 AM. There we were to meet “Henks” and “Alwin”. From there on, we would travel by B-roads to the second place of gathering, the Mac. D. in Assen-Noord. There were some more members waiting for us. Familiar and unfamiliar faces. Together we drove a tour along a megalithic tomb and the Lancaster monument. That monument is as a tribute to the Lancaster that crashed near Anreep in 1943. That is how we ended up in Assen on the Jacob Cramerplein. There was the start of the “Horsepowerrun”. Names like Peugeot, Kerry, Eysink, Sarolea and Madison came by. I'll add the pictures that I took on my website, because those bikes deserve that, each and every one of them. Someone else may call it "old junk", but I see the beauty of it. These are people with "heart" for their "bike". Some of those bikes were started, by making speed as a push-bike, others had a kick-starter. All these classic bikes were built prior than 1920, if I'm not mistaken. But we had to move on. On arrival at the TT-track, we first went to get some lunch. Other forum-members came to the same conclusion and so we met them as well. The group was growing.

My highlight of the day.
“Rudy” had, for those, who had made his 50th birthday to an unforgettable day, a present. Even though every parcel had a different shape, they all contained a T-shirt. On the front side it had the logo of the brand of bike the person was driving and the text underneath: “a day to remember” and the date of his birthday. On the backside it had the nickname of the forum-member, so a very personal gift.
But now it was my turn to ride a real Harley Davidson WLA “LIBERATOR” TYPE 3 45ci. Well I made a short ride, but that is a bike with a lot of instructions. I did enjoy it. Many pictures were made of this legendary event. At the end of the day, Rudy invited us to join him for a cup of coffee. So we stayed and talk for a while and then it was time to go home again. Then there is work to do! The pictures have to be downloaded into the computer and if possible get them online as soon as I can. Especially the forummembers, that could not be present this day, will be extremely curious, wether I had the guts and menaged to ride "Libby" or not.
