First forum-weekend.

By the end of August, last year, right after a forumday, the question was popped, wether it was feasible to organise a forum-weekend. Every member could contribute ideas.

The beginning of...
There were many contributions coming in. At the beginning of december a new topic was opened, where to registre. Schaduwman and I had found a nice place in Limburg, with a "hayloft". So no tents were needed, just a sleepingbag and a pillow. Gezellig, met zijn allen in een slaapzaal. There were bunk-beds. On december 31, registration was stopped and the topic was removed. We had a nice group of people, 14 in total, that wanted to participate. Payment needed to be done in advance and then the first ones canceled. The ones that had payed got a mail with instructions and the adress of the place where we would be staying.

Thursday Mai 18.
In the past 2 weeks, 2 more participants have canceled. In the morning I first check the mail and another one. Pity, the group gets even smaller. Roel and I leave at 9 sharp and hope to meet Jelle in Staphorst. Then we move straight on, 10 km away at Hattemerbroek, at servicestation "het Veen" we meet “Dolle Hond”. We stop there for a cup of coffee, before we move on for the next meeting place. That is servicestation “‘t Haasje”, jsut past Eindhoven. Here Schaduwman joins in. With the 5 of us we drive to Heerlen now, to Camping “In den Hof”. That afternoon, “VTRerrorist” arrives and after dinner “Aprili@ster” and hert husband “SP2mtr” walk in. We are now complete. I receive a text-message from Herrie, he possibly can't get his bike ready.

Friday, May 19.
Plans to have a ride around Monschau are realised. At the counter on the camping there are itineraries available, that lead us there. Because of the heavy rain and stormy winds, there is quite a mess on the road, existing of leaves, blossom and even branches. So we take our time and take it easy. We have serveral coffeebreaks. Now and then there is a bit of a drizzle, but we are prepared. We enjoy the scenery and the tour leads us both through Belgium and Germany. We notice, that as soon as we enter Belgium, the roads are not of a good quality. Manouvring between the holes in the road, we find our way. The Monschau-area is indeed wonderful for bikers. That evening at dinner, my mobile phone rings. It is "Herrie", who tells me that he can't fix his bike and is not coming either.

Sathurday, May 20.
The name Francorchamps wasd mentioned, but having a look at the sky that morning, it doesn't look very inviting. We go for a ride. We decide to stay in the area and that's how we end up in Aken. There the sun is shining. Around 13.30 we feel like having a snack and decide to find us a Mac D. It is only 2 kilometres away. Once we sit inside, the sky turns into dark blue, the wind becomes heavier by the minute. Then there is an enormous shower. Glad I'm not outside. There we take the highway back to the camping. The “VTRerrorist” is leaving for home. That evening I get a textmessage that he got home safe and dry. “Aprili@ster” and “SP2mtr” have invited some friends. The men enjoy themselves with darts and poole. i turn in early.

Sunday May 21.
At 05.30 I wide awake already. Now and then someone walks out and visits the toiletbuilding. By 06.30 I've had it. I take a shower and get dressed. Check if the door to the restaurant is open already. I grab a cup of coffee, as our group can have breakfast at 9. After breakfast we need to pack our things and get going on the homeward journey. Dolle Hond is joining Aprili@ster and SP2mtr. Just before Eindhoven we stop at a servicestation and say goodbye to Schaduwman, then we move on to Staphorst, where we say goodbye to Jelle. A very succesful weekend, but a forumday takes less time to organise.
