Eveningtour.

I have finally a whole week off and guess what, it's raining. At least the beginning of the week. I had already plans to visit Germany again, but going on thursday and returning on friday, isn't really worth the trouble. But on friday-evening there is an evening-tour with the FMC and I can't let that one go past, certainly with this kind of weather.

Battery-problem?
Knowing that Roel his bike is way in the back of the garage, he takes it out first thing this afternoon. One minor problem, it won't start. Connects it on the battery-charger and waits for an hour. While I get dinner ready in time, Roel makes a short tour, to get things fully charged again. By 18.15 we're both fully dressed in order to drive to the start in Leeuwarden. We need to use the jumper cables and the car. I'm standing there underneath the hood, while Roel fires up the engine. I take both them off and with in each hand a jumper cable, I wait for Roel to disconnect as well. He takes them with him in the panier of his bike, just in case.

On our way to the start.
This way we drive towards Leeuwarden, where Roel needs to fuel up first. At Quatrebras, I see that it is 20 degrees. On the parking behind the FEC*, there are already some bikes parked in the shade. We join them. As far as I can see, all of them I've met before. Know their faces, not all their names. The group is growing slowly and there are already more than 20 bikes. Ritske and Aly decide to devide the group into two. Ritske takes the first group and I'm the last man (woman) in the group of Ritske. Our group leaves first.

They overtake us.
When we wait at the traffic-light before the Fonejacht-bridge, I see the second group approaching. I wave to the bikers that I see in the mirror. They keep on riding behind us for quite some time. That makes it possible to have a break by the side of the road, together. (see picture) After the break, our group leaves first again. It is a beautiful tour, certainly now that nature is at its very best. All the greens, the cows, sheep and horses in the meadows. I really enjoy the twisty B-roads. Like we pass through all those small villages of Wirdum, Reduzum, Jirnsum, Grou, Wergea, Aldegea, Houtigehage, Boelenslaan, Surhuisterveen and Stiensgea. I've driven most of the roads before and I still can enjoy it enormously. Then the tour passes our house and we end up in Tietjerk, in a motel. There I come to know, that Roel has stopped at home. He didn't want to take the risk and I don't blame him. On the way back home, around 10.30 PM I see that it is still 16 degrees. A heatwave is predicted, the second one this year. During the day in the shade and at night a nice tour. I don't mind at all.
