A little bit goodbye...

Sundayafternoon the 15th of October I go for a bike-ride on my own. First I have a look on the pier. There are only a few cars, for the rest it is quiet. There is some mist hanging over the sea. When I leave the pier, a Harley-rider aproaches and he greets me with joy. I follow my own way. Today I have decided to say a little goodbye to the "clay".

Under the lee of the seadike...
Near Holwerd I turn into the direction of Leeuarden and at the first exit to Blija, I turn right again, on to the Aebingaweg, that leads me to the Noorderleech. Here in the lee of the seadike, it is quiet and I always have the urge to drive no faster than 50 or 60 km/h, so that I can enjoy the scenery even more. The estates are empty. All crops are harvested. Some fields have been ploughed, others are turning green as the new gras has been sown. Near Ferwerd I have a break at the monument of Ids Wiersma. (see picture) I make a few pictures.

With a little detour...
I leave the Noorderleech at the Noorderleechsteroprit and at Hollumerhoek I turn right into the direction of Oudebildtzijl. But the bridge has been demolished. My goal to have a look at Zwarte Haan is at issue for a moment. I make a U-turn and drive passed Oude Leije and Vrouwen Parochie. At the roundabout I turn right on to the Attesweg. After a few more turns I finally arrive at Zwarte Haan. The parking is loaded with cars. My bike is the only two-wheeler. Last year I drove right into paradise here. There were about a dozen older Harleys parked and I took quite a few pictures then. They were standing to close towards each other, so I could not get nice shots, but I did put some on the page with older bikes.

Looking ahead...
In a few months time, around the end of April or the beginning of May I will be back here, when the fields with tulips are in bloom. Then it is a pleasure to drive here. The bare fields of the Frisian clay make me feel a bit sad. That's why the little goodbye, until the clay welcomes me again with all its beauty. Then we are six months further in life. In winter I prefer, but that is personal, The Frisian "Wouden". All week we had mild weather, but last night it suddenly went cold. The "R" is in the month and you can notice. From time to time I feel the cold gnaw on my fingertips. Time to find my wintergloves. Then I can still have a ride every now and then. A winterstop is out of the question. When the sun starts shining in winter and the sky has this fabulous blue colour, then it is me eagerly waiting to get the bike out.
