Another golden day.

After three days of rain, this morning finally the sun was shining again. Not a watery sun, but a real spring sun. The youngest son asked me this morning, if I would join him to pick up his diploma at his school this afternoon. He utilized his second chance and succeeded for his Senior Secundary Vocational Education diploma. Unfortunatly I only have a bike to my disposal.....

Preparation...
Because the presentation would start at 4, I'd better prepare something for dinner. So while the yougest son is for a meeting at the Higher Vocational Education, I do some shopping. Prepare the meat and peel the patatoes. Then at a quarter past three we start finding all the biker-gear together. When I'm halfway dressing up, I take the bike out of the shed. When totally dressed up, it is a sweaty job. I can do it this way too.

Lovely weather...
Totally dressed up we lock the house and I put the bike onto contact, open the choke and press the little thingy for the starter-interruption. Then I push the startbutton and she starts up and humms like a bird. I really have the idea I didn't even have to use the choke at all. Put on the gloves and mount the bike. The pavement next to the house has a nasty green colour and is real slippery. So I drive forward a bit. On my command, that it's ok, Johnny mounts the bike as my pillion. That's how we leave.

The alternative route...
On Quatrebras the thermometer tells us that it is 7 degrees. It is lovely weather. Pity for the sun being so low, but I'm glad with my built-in sunglasses. And so we approach Leeuwarden. At the first trafficlights we turn left on to the Anne Vondelingweg. At the end we turn right, on the city-bypass. Passing the Greuns-bridge, near the prison "de Marwei", we turn left on to the Stinzenflora. There are some nice corners here and the advantage is that I miss all the traffic-lights. It is an alternative route. So we end up at the other side of the Harinxma-bridge and are close to the school.

What a special day...
The presentation takes place in the canteen. After the presentation we leave immediatly, as dinner has to be prepared. Outside we have a little chat with two of Johnny his teachers. Then we leave by the bypass, just go with the flow. We can move on quite nicely. With a good breath of fresh air, we arrive back home. I put the bike back in the shed straight away and cover her up again. Put the patatoes on the gas-stove. Cooking pears are already done. Just firing up the meatpan and dinner is ready. To us it was a very special day.
