Final vacation-weekend.

All good things come to an end, also the holiday period for the building trade up north. But this summer looks like there is no ending with the nice weather. There is still the opportunity to go for a ride...

Making plans...
Last week I got a mail from Rudyhadee of motorforum.nl, telling me that JanBMW was throwing a gardenparty because of his 50th birthday. It sure would be nice if we could attend it with some members. That night I had an invitation from Jan himself in my mailbox and so we made some plans. A select group, bit of the old gang, promised to come and so we made arrangements for a gatheringplace. In the passed week I ended up with a tremendous back-ache, so I need to see at first if I can get my leg over my motorbike. Miraculously I succeed in that. It is only when I stand up from a chair, which I do very carefully.

Saturdayafternoon...
Time to gather is between one and one-thirty at the motel in Spier. While driving down the exit, I see Jelle coming up too and together we explre the parkingplace, but we are the first ones to arrive. We are only there for a short period or Old-timer from Den Bosch is joining us. While I make a few pictures I can hear a nois coming our way. Can't miss, that must be Rudyhadee and the Conimexman coming up. We have some chit-chat and admire the yellow Triumph Thruxton of the Conimexman. I had seen this bike in Aniie her shop-window. Anyway the group is complete now and so we move on into the direction of Meppel. Rudyhadee is leading.

Celebrating...
Around 2 pm we arrive in Meppel and congratulate janBMW and get aquainted with the rest of the family. Because Jan is rather BMW-minded and soem sort of anti-Japanes, Rudy got him a T-shirt with Honda on it for fun. He is supposed to wear it. Later that afternoon Henks is joining us. Then the guitars and the mouth-organs surface. There are quite a few talents amongst us, both vocal and musical. It is becoming quite a cosy afternoon. Later I drve by Heerenveen and Drachten home on my own.

Sunday...
This morning the sun shines very inviting and this afternoon some thunderstorm is expected. So I go to the kitchen early to make us a hot lunch. Then I can leave on the bike and not keep an eye on the clock. They can get them a sandwich for dinner themselves, when they feel hungry. With a detour I arrive on the pier of Holwerd and keep searching for nice winding roads here up north in the province of Friesland. I arrive in Metslawier, but I don't really like to visit Lauwersoog, as it must be crowded there with this lovely weather. On the way back I need to get some fuel in a sevicestation. When I drive into the village, my counter passes on to 57.000 kms. This way I put the bike in the shed. A nice round figure. Tomorrow normal life begins again.
