A few enervating days.

All morning it has been raining, but when I mount my bike on friday-afternoon the roads are already dry again. It is not real sunny and with only 14 degrees. But the choice is easy to make when I have to choose between the bus or my bike...

Record...
Some weeks ago I was apporached by my origami-teacher. If I would be a witness to the attempt to improve the world-record of folding 100 crane-birds. I agreed to do so. In the mean time i had had a call from Marten Sale Brouwer about what time to arrive. I put on my best suit and put the bikerclothes over it. Then I left the house around one, in order to drive to the city of Leeuwarden. I could neatly park the bike on the sidewalk and put only the disc-lock on. At 2 PM Marten started folding, with one cam rolling all the time, to follow the entire process. Next to it was a camera-team of the Dutch TV-program "Hart van Nederland" and a reporter of the Leeuwarder Courant. Later two more camerateams arrive, from the local TV, "Omrop Fryslân" and the city-TV "Mercurius". The attempt was successful and is improved by just over 5 minutes.

Statement...
That evening I got a mail from Marten, that there was a mistake in the Witness Statement and it had to be printed again and signed. On saturday afternoon the sun was shining so lovely, that I decided to take it to Marten his house and then take a detour to come home again. That is how I ended up on the pier of Holwerd. With this lovely sunny weather it is like a picture: the quiet mud-flat and the island of Ameland in the back-ground almost lifted. It is not only pleasant because of the weather there are lots of bikers passing by, for a chat. Easy I drive homeward, enjoying the wind around my helmet. I choose for another detour by Ferwerd and into the direction of Burdaard. Along the highest mound of Friesland, Hogebeintum and the villages Genum and Jislum. Passed the mill of Burdaard and then near Stenendam, I turn right and drive by Oentsjerk, Gytsjerk and Zwartewegsend towards home again.

And then a sundaytour...
On sundayafternoon MCV is organising a tour and Roel and I are deciding to join in. The leader can be proud as we leave with 12 motorbikes. By the fields around the village we leave north and eventually we end up at the seadike. We follow it all the way to Harlingen, where we have a coffee-break on the seaside. After the break we drive by Kimswerd, Achlum and Hitzum to Lollum. By nice B-roads we pass Leeuwarden on the south side and eventually we end up in Veenwouden again around six. The second half was driven faster in my opinion and I really enjoyed it. We do have lovely weather this sunday. Even though it were only 145 kilometres, it was well worth it. But I do feel real tired by the end of this day. At the beginning of the week I was quite feeverish and it does make me feel, that I'm not fully recovered yet.
