Köln-Peking.

When I am on my way from Antalya to Side with my group of tourists, the bus is overtaken by two bikers, with lots of luggage...

On tour...
On arrivel in Side we leave the bus near the amphi-theatre. The bus can't park here, so the driver has to leave the antic city and wait for my phonecall. We let him know where to find us. Ususally it is at the excavated houses, where there are mozaics in the sidewalk, close to the agora of the theatre. We make our round there along the ruins and on the spot I give an explenation about it...

The meeting...
Next to the theatre, just before the remains of the aquaduct I ususally climb on a stone and gather the group around me. There I tell them about what makes this theatre so special. We move on into the direction of the sea. There we can choose to go left or right. I have agreed with the official tourist guide, that I will go left today. At the intersection, I wait u7ntill the group is complete again. A Polish pregnant lady asks if there are any toilets. We are next to an open restaurant, so the question is easily spoken to the man behind the bar.. We need to walk around the building. There are the two bikes, with the bikers...

Time to make aquaintance...
An American lady comes stand next to me and I tell her, this is the way I went on vacation the last couple of years. With bike and luggage. The license-plates tell me these are Germans. On the suitcases on the side of the BNW-GS-es I read: Köln-Peking. While waiting for the Polish lady, I get aquainted. The men are planning to make a trip around half the world. They really will travel from Cologn to Peking. I ask if they have a website where we can see their progress. They have and quickly I write the link down. Just wanted to share this with you and made a few pics of the men.

I still have it in me...
They will make a monstertour for a good purpose. Reminds me of Jur Lamers and Richard Danel, who went all the way to Siberia in an earlier story. (saturday january 20 2007, Just hear say, story #30.) And then I continue with my tourists through the gate in the old city wall to the state-agora, the platform where people were cricified and the library. Back at the agora near the theatre. There I point out the latrine and the suage-system from the second century. Then we end at the mozaics in the sidewalk and call the driver. A tour with a special ring to it today. I didn't yet sweat out the virus. I will probably never loose it.
